Road freight to Spain and Portugal

Into Spain we mostly carry full loads out of German and Central European plants; Portugal is added as a continuation of the same run. At this distance planning is what counts — the date, the vehicle and the driver's rest are agreed up front so the unloading holds.

Lanes to the Iberian Peninsula

Most shipments come out of Germany and Central Europe into the Spanish industrial regions; eastbound we pick up return loads.

Catalonia and the east

Barcelona, Zaragoza and Valencia are the first unloading points on most of our Spanish lanes — automotive work, plastics and chemical products.

Madrid and central Spain

Components and finished goods into the Madrid area as full loads, unloaded inside the booked slot.

The Basque Country and the north coast

Bilbao, Vitoria and Burgos — steel, components and machinery.

Portugal as a continuation

A Portuguese delivery is attached to the Spanish run; it is not a separate lane but the ordinary continuation of the same drive.

What we carry on Spanish lanes

Predominantly full-load industrial freight — components, plastics, finished goods and packaging material.

Full loads (FTL)

On a long run the most dependable option: one loading, one unloading, no transhipment.

Part loads (LTL)

Smaller shipments travel as part loads; at this distance expect a wider window.

Temperature-controlled

A controlled temperature with a log holds up over a long run and a Spanish summer.

Planning, ordering and paperwork

State the addresses, dimensions, weight, date and whether unloading is on a fixed slot. The quote follows within 2 hours. On Spanish lanes we recommend ordering a few days ahead — that way the vehicle is planned without compromising the date.

Every shipment travels with a CMR consignment note signed at loading and at unloading. The carrier's liability is covered under the CMR convention and capped against the weight of the shipment rather than its value — for valuable goods, state the value in the enquiry and we will arrange additional cover.

A run to the Iberian Peninsula takes several days, so the plan accounts for mandatory rest and the driver's daily limits. If the date will not work out, two drivers in relay are an option; we propose it where it makes sense and price it beforehand. A Portuguese delivery is attached to the same order.

How long the run takes

Indicative ranges from Central Europe with one driver.

Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia
Usually 3 working days.
Madrid and central Spain
Usually 3 to 4 working days.
Bilbao, Vitoria, Burgos
Usually 3 working days.
Portugal
Usually one day beyond the Spanish delivery.

The times are indicative and carry no guarantee — they depend on where loading takes place, the unloading window, traffic and the driver's mandatory rest. The date is confirmed in the quote.
